Living in the Now

Today is Erik’s birthday, and I don’t know whether to feel bummed or celebratory. Maybe I should feel a little of both. My emotions are all over the place, and I thought that by seven years in, they wouldn’t be. Please be sure to wish him a happy birthday on his Facebook page )Erik Rune Medhus). I’m sure he’d love that.

Today we have a special treat. Guest medium, Celestine Grace, has agreed to channel our boy about a topic that is dear to my heart. But first, here’s a bit about her and how you can contact her if you’d like a reading of your own! I definitely recommend her. She’s the real deal!

I have been able to see, hear, feel and sense spirit since I was a child.  I would lie on my stomach and cover my head with the pillow and then cover that with blankets, thinking they would go away – HAH!  Thankfully, they have not gone away.

About 2 years ago, our dear Erik began his siege to get me on the enlightenment train…  While I’ve been on this path from a while, Erik put me on the fast track and I truly do owe a huge debt to Erik and his family, especially his mom, Elisa; without them, I sure don’t think I would be where I am today.

The way my gifts work for me is that I feel energy and get messages in many different forms.  I have all the clairs and then some, thank you Erik!!  Spirit KNOWS when I will be communicating with their loved ones and the messages often start a few days before a reading.   Everything is channeled through and with LOVE for the highest and best good of the person the message is intended for.

Now for the post. Sorry I’m not in a mood to edit it, but it’s probably cleaner than my  posts!

Hello!  Celestine Grace, how are you?

CG:  I am Excellent! How are you?

EM – Good!  Hi Erik

E – Hi Mom!!!

EM- I LOVE you SO much!

E- (leans in to speak to his Mom)   Mom, I love you SO MUCH, it’s so good to talk to you every time. I just love you.

EM – Awesome!!   It’s so cool that our relationship is just different, but still goes on.

E – That is will! Forever and Ever, Mom

EM – Hell Yeah!  So um… You decided on a few topics here and the first one for this segment is “Are you Living in the Now” and I can tell you that living in the Now is SO hard for me!  Oh my God, I’m always a few seconds behind or a few seconds forward, it’s always so tough!  So, enlighten us.

CG – So, Erik says, “A day late and a dollar short” is what you used to say.

E – Stay in the Now, is NOT the easiest thing to do, Mom! It takes practice.  Todays world has so many distractions and it’s not just the electronics, it’s just such a busy world and it’s easy to be very far away from the

We have a couple blog member here that I do this with and I’m going to give you a hint to let you know that I am with you.  I am with you all the time all you have to do is think of me and how I catch the attention of the blog members , who are NOT (leans into the camera and deepens his voice) Living in the Noooooooowwwwwww.

EM – (Squeaks out) Me!

E- Laughs… I grab their earlobes, and they’ll feel warmth and/or they’ll feel tingling and if they go to their 3rd eye, they’ll see me go like this. (Erik goes nose to nose with the camera as if looking directly into your eyes.  in his serious professor voice and glasses, he looks over his glasses and looks you dead, pun intended, in the eyes and says slowly and deliberately, in a professorial tone.) Are you LIVING in the NOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW?

Are you worried?

Are you Anxious?

EM – Giggles

E – Are you Living in the Future?!!!!Are you LIVING in the NOW???

So that’s how you know (Refer to earlobes above) that he helps us. If you can stop that thought, the worry and ask yourself, are you Living in the Now? To help trigger a different thought, to at least distract you.

EM- Ok – Awesome. So, what are the problems, symptoms, whatever, for people, who are not living in the Now, like me? Sometimes. Not always, but sometimes.

E – Well the symptoms are many. First thing you want to ask yourself, am I worried about something? Am I anxious about something?  Because if you’re worried or anxious about something, you’re living in the future:  You’re worried about what future events will come and what you have to do and what should happen. That steals the Now –  That energy that you could provide to the present to make the present a joyful moment.

If you’re feeling guilty, or feeling badly about something that happened in the past, (He gets VERY EMPHATIC.) Let’s face it – you can’t fucking change the past!!!

EM – True

E – So we’ll call this “Wasted Energy”… Wasted energy.  So when you start feeling guilty and staring living in the past, ask yourself…. Ummm – “ What better things could I do with this energy???   I can’t change the past – but I CAN make the future better.

EM – So depression, is that living in the past?

E – Depression has very many components. For some people, it CAN be living in the past, Actually, for a LOT of people it IS Living in the past.   It can be chemical for some and then it’s a combination for some.  The chemical part of our brain, keeps you at that low vibration and you can’t just jump out of that thought process.

CG – So, Depression is quite unique, he says..

E – AND Unique to each individual.  Because EVERYTHING lives in your mind – Everything. Everything, just resides up here (he points to his head,)  it’s SO objective, uh – I mean SUBJECTIVE ; are you depressed because your dog died, you know, it’s individual to everybody, BUT I can give you another hint on how to get out of that!

EM – HOW???

E- So, the brain is kind of like a vinyl record, when you think about it – The same paths, (ie going the same route to work, having a specific routine.. shower, brush teeth, put on make up) make a groove into your vinyl record. Think about playing the same song over and over

EM – Right?

CG – Erik describes and compares the repetitive daily routines as etching a groove into that vinyl record and the groove gets pretty deep.

EM – OK

E – The amazing thing about the brain is that you can create new neural pathways by just doing something different – Have different thought patterns – go a different way to work. You know, brushing your teeth BEFORE you go to the bathroom rather than after… you know whatever that may be for you.  It all starts new neural pathways that start a whole new bunch of stuff going (Points to the brain).. And that’s what helps you to get out of the repeated (negative/heavy thought process) like anxiety, depression, etc.

Now – once you start recognizing these feelings of depression, take notice of what triggers them.  Now, I am giving you an ANTI Trigger….. Once you feel those heavy feelings creep in, have a HAPPY Trigger.  Whatever is happy for you, if you take yourself to that happy place, THAT happy place <points to his head again>

That happy place for you can be being on the beach, with your grandkids, take pictures,  where/what ever it is that makes you happy That will have HELPED stop the negative thought pattern.. This can now help to new thought patterns.

Don’t think this is an easy process.

EM – Yeah!

E- It’s a HABIT

EM- It takes discipline and practice

E – Absolutely – it takes practice

CG- I, for example, practice in traffic, Laughs

EM- Ahhh – that’s good! –  I practice while I’m taking a bath or hiking.

CG – He likes the hiking part because you can be very distracted by Mother Nature (In a good way!)

EM – Yeah

E –  So, if you can make those happy thoughts distract you, even for a second, distract you from whatever that negative thought/emotion is, you’re a second closer to happiness or 3 seconds – you have 3 seconds of happiness or 5 minutes of being distracted from that negative thought process

EM- You can look at the past – the happy moments, that’s not living in the Now.

E – Absolutely, Absolutely (referring to the happy moments)

EM – Or hope for the future, in that whole state of mind,  that is not being in the Now.  How do you speak to that?

E – There is a difference between intention and not being in the Now. So –  you have this intention… this “Intending Energy” and you’re “intending to – do something in the future (whatever it is)  BUT – IF you have anything attached to the “HOW” that future event is supposed to happen, that is where your “worry” is going to come in.

EM – Oh, what about thinking al happy moment in the past.

CG – He says that is excellent too – That’s a very good way to snap you OUT of the Depression

E –  People that are depressed tend to forget about what is good in life and what they have to be grateful for.

EM – OK

E – Gratitude is another great way to life yourself out of a FUNK

EM – Oh – Tell me about that!

E – I’ve been showing Celestine Grace, here gratitude for the past 3 days, so that she could speak to and we could converse about this.

CG –  The biggest thing I was shown this weekend was Gratitude mad me JOYFUL – I was at a local restaurant waiting for my lunch and a homeless man came in and asked for something to eat, he had nothing at all. The staff was back and forth, and I said “I’ll be happy to pay for his lunch, give him what he wants”.. I gave the homeless man a hug, he didn’t smell too good.

It may have been the only hug he’s had in years

EM – Awww, I know – I know

CG – That hug gave me so much JOY, I didn’t… My feet didn’t stay on the ground and I thought, “You know, that was way easy and it didn’t really cost anything and I was Joyful for hours.  I was grateful to be able to help that fellow out!

EM – Does gratitude help you stay in the Now?

E- Absolutely! Because if you’re grateful for what you have now, more will come.

EM – What are the other benefits of being in the Now,  aside from avoiding depression, anxiety and guilt and all that.

E- Well, time is very precious! You never know that the next second, the next moment, the next minute is going to bring.  It gives you absolute appreciation for the exact moment you’re living in.  Nothing’s guaranteed.

EM – That’s true.

E- Nothing is guaranteed, Mom

EM – Yes, I knew that Monday October 6, 2009, I woke up thinking my son was going to grow old, and I went to bed without his physical presence.. So, I know…

CG – He’s making my heart hurt, so I know he’s very sorry for that pain.

EM- I know, he doesn’t need to be, I know he’s happier now – So we’re good!

CG – He knows and is back to his usual self.

EM – Uh oh, uh oh, what is he doing now?

CG – He packing back and forth, back and forth.

EM- Oh, that kid can pace like a son of a gun!!

CG – Erik claps his hands. Let’s go, let’s go!

EM- So anything else on living in the Now?

CG – He says, “I’ll leave you with this:”

E- When you’re living in the past or you’re living in the future, you’re using energy that is basically wasted because you can’t change the past and you can’t control the future.

EM- Yeah

E –  Use that energy to something good for yourself in the Now.  Everything is energy, think about how you use it in the Now.

EM- Give us some examples.

E – By being joyful,  by being in the moment, by petting your dogs, by kissing your kids, by enjoying the taste of your food, by talking to your friend – Everything that gives you joy, everything that makes your heart sing will make you happy about being in the NOW.  There are some shitty moments and you won’t like being in that Now, but I an tell you, it’s better than the alternative.

EM – That’s true. Wise words, Erik.

Tomorrow at 7 PM CT is Erik’s Hour of Enlightenment radio show. Call 619-639-4606 15 minutes prior to talk to Erik. http://goo.gl/aFHTzJ
