Me: Ascended Masters. Some people want to know if they really exist.
Erik: In human—
Robert (surprised): He used a big word! I’ve never heard him use big words!
Robert laughs.
Me (teasing): Oh, such a big boy!
Robert: He’s like using bigger words than me. He’s growing up!
Me: He’s just got a Roget’s Thesaurus tucked under his arm!
Erik: You caught me. Damn!
Robert (laughing): He looked guilty! A hint of mischief!
Erik: You know, Mom, humans believe everything is hierarchal, and an Ascended Master implies that they’re above. In spiritual terms—and I’ve talked about this before—we don’t really use those terms. I mentioned that before. A lot of times I set the stage for something later to help educate people further. I do that a lot. If you want to use a term to define how spirits can be different, because they are different, then maybe you’d call an Ascended Master someone who’s had a lot of experiences. In other words, they’ve created a lot of connections like a neuron going a lot of different places. They have access to a vast amount of awareness that’s literally connected within their soul. They don’t have to connect with another spirit or All That Is to be able to pull in vast amounts of information because they’ve already created those connections by themselves. Your “Joe Shmo” spirit—
Robert (laughing hard): Sorry. That sounds funny!
Erik: He might have to go to the well and dip his toe in to connect to all that awareness because he hasn’t had the same amount of experiences or his experiences aren’t quite as “bad.” So that’s how you define an “Ascended Master.”
Me: That makes sense. So do they have a specific role?
Erik: It depends on the individual spirit. The more awareness you have, the more they feel the need to share and teach others, so as a general rule, they become teachers.
Me: I see. Would you be considered an Ascended Master, Erik, in terms of what humans think?
Erik: I’m working on expanding our awareness.
Me: So, when do you get to the point when, “Okay, my awareness is this volume of cubic kilometers so now I’m an Ascended Master?”
Erik (turning his head away like a snob): When that happens, then I won’t have any time for any of you.
Me: Oh, hush up!
Robert and I laugh.
Me: I can still bend you over my knee! No for real. What do you do? When do you know?
Erik: I’ve said it this way before, but most Ascended Masters don’t label themselves that way. They come at it from a perspective of, “I’ll never know everything,” so you never get to the point where you’re like, “Okay, I’m an Ascended Master.”
Me: You never reach the finish line.
Erik: You never do.
Me: Say Kari—
She’s a blog member who especially adores Erik. She’s also a personal friend.
Me: Does she consider you an Ascended Master?
Robert: That’s exactly what he was getting ready to say.
Erik: It’s really the individual that might define it that way. One person might call me that, but another might not. For Kari, sure as hell, I’m an Ascended Master because that kind of turns her on.
Robert and I laugh.
Robert: Sorry!
Me: Yes, it probably does! What about the other blog members? Do you think most of them consider you to be an Ascended Master?
Erik: There are a lot of them who do, but some of them just see me as a guide. Some of them see me as a buddy.
Me: Okay, cool That’s awesome.
Erik: So, people see me in the way they need to see me, and I respond in kind. I give them what I know they need.
Me: All right. Ready for the next question?
Erik: Shoot.
Me: Okay. I hate when you say something like that. That’s a wrong choice of words!
Robert (hands flying to his face): Oh, I didn’t catch that!
I was just kidding. It didn’t affect me as much as Robert thought it did.
(Teaser: the next question is about time travel!)
