Great Day Houston

Hey guys. This has got to be the most interesting and thought-provoking questions yet. Erik is up to the task, though. Brace yourself for some mind-blowing concepts!

Me: Here’s another one: “Oh my god. Can you imagine not existing? I wonder if anyone has ever done that before—that they gave up their existence and that their consciousness became scattered across the stars. It’s kind of unnerving sounding, really. Also the fact that no one will try to convince you to not give up your existence because they respect your free will. If you’re surrounded by people that love you, why would you want to give up your existence; why wouldn’t anyone try to fight for your existence out of pure, unselfish love for you?”

Jamie (laughing hard): Erik just leaned over and he goes, “Someone has issues!”

Jamie and I both laugh at Erik’s frankness.

Erik: You can imagine the joy of being consumed by the whole and at the same time the sadness that nobody would fight for them. If you’re measuring that the love for yourself, or the identity of yourself, through how other people express it to you, then you’re looking at it in the wrong way. We just talked about external vs. internal. You can’t base yourself on who you are by what the external world is saying, because it’s full of different sets of eyes. They don’t belong to you. And if it’s your joy and your passion and your will to separate from the whole, you’re making the right choice. There’s no feeling of, “Oh, I’m so sad that nobody stood up and fought for me.” If you’re looking for that then you’re doing the wrong fucking thing. We don’t have that kind of, “Oh, I’m going to play victim, and I’m going to feel so sad that nobody’s fighting for me right now.” We don’t have that kind of bullshit over here. It just doesn’t survive in this dimension. So talking about it is a little ridiculous and elementary. No offense to the writer, but you’re seeing it through a human set of eyes, so I can see how you would think that would be a valid thing to talk. Being aware for anybody who’s reading this: You don’t wanna make a choice to get a rise out of somebody else. Every choice you’re making in your life, every moment needs to be—

Jamie (to Erik, giggling): That’s a nice Tarzan move. He’s just really hit his chest hard!

Erik: It needs to come from the heart.

Me: Well said. You’re on it today.

Jamie: He just licked his finger and touched his ass like, “It’s so hot.”

I chuckle.

Me: You’re something else.

Jamie (sighing): Oh my god.

Me: So you can give up your existence then, temporarily? It’s like you don’t have any separate identity. You’re just part of the whole and lose that identity.

Erik: Yes.

Here’s my interview on Great Day Houston. I love Deborah Duncan. She’s such a talented interviewer. She asks thought-provoking, intelligent questions, the answers to which she knows her audience wants. Personally, I refuse to watch this video, because I always look so goofy in them. 🙂
