Finally a Visit from a HUGE Black Dragonfly :)

I’ve been a member of the CE blog for a few years now. I’m fairly certain Erik pranked me a couple years ago with his signature stinkbombs one Halloween night, and on a few other occasions, making my Staples “Easy” button go off with a “That was easy!,” possibly blinking some lights here and there, which may or may not have been Erik, and his face appearing in my mind’s eye while I was drifting off to sleep, and I knew that if he were to actually appear in 3D like some members have talked about, or if I started hearing him or saw him as an orb, it might really scare the bejesus out of me (I’m working on that but not quite there yet). Since scaring us isn’t his intention ,my guess is that that’s at least part of the reason I haven’t had any of those experiences. About a week and a half ago, there was a blog post about Erik visiting a CE peep as a black dragonfly., and I thought, “How cool would that be,” and not scary at all, and then wondered how someone could really know for sure if that was Erik. Well, tonight I was outside at dusk with my son, supervising his weed wacking chore while I took care of some other things outside. For the last part of his chore, he asked me to have a look and point out anything he’d missed, and it turned out I also needed to help him lengthen the line. While I was doing all of that, I noticed one, just one, HUGE gorgeous black dragonfly making low sweeps at eye level all around that section of lawn that we were in. Immediately, I thought, “Erik!” and smiled. I even said it out loud, “This has to be Erik,” “I think that’s Erik.” What really struck me was that A. There were NO other dragonflies flitting around at the usual prime feeding time when I notice most dragonflies in large groups and mostly up higher above our heads, and B. I’ll be darned if that dragonfly was flying around ME specifically. It does turn out that dragonflies are attracted to light rocks and I had a white shirt and gray shorts on vs. my son’s vibrant blue shirt and shorts, but I really do wonder if this was Erik because of how often it flew around me, how close around me, and how low, not swooping down to eat mosquitoes but staying from waist to eye level . I like to think that Erik finally paid me a visit as a beautiful solitary black dragonfly.
