Karma

Yesterday’s post on Reincarnation received a comment using “karmic”.

The term “karma” seems like a few popular phrases; what do they really mean?

ST = substitute teacher C = The Committee and Erik

ST:       Esteemed Committee, you already know I’m thinking about words that don’t really say what’s meant. Words with a softer or more appealing tone that sometimes ends up a little inaccurate or even deceptive.

C:         The use of softer words is a human characteristic; well placed.

ST:       Karma is not a softer word, I don’t think. It means retribution, payback, just desserts, you got what you deserved, punishment and correction, right?

Erik:     It’s a Volkswagen from the 1960s, the Karma Ghia.

ST:       Are you smoking a cigar again?

Erik:     (Puffing on a stogie) What’s that have to do with cars?

ST:       OK, Erik, toss out your joke.

Erik:     I just did, that car was one.

ST:       I kind of liked it.

Erik:     Jokes are good but not for driving.

ST:       Any insight on karma, Erik?

Erik:     It ain’t punishment; nobody gets punished.

ST:       Your mother’s a doctor, not a dentist, but she pulls teeth pretty good, getting you to open up a little.  Are we going to the dentist again today?

Erik:     You don’t get penalties in life for mistakes or bad stuff. You get opportunities to revise things.

ST:       Go on. You can do it…

Erik:     (I see him putting the Karmann Ghia into first gear and releasing the clutch) You can have  a chance sooner or sometimes later in the same life and if it’s important enough and there’s a good lesson to be learned and fixed and for things to be improved, you can redo and revisit with the people involved, and also in another life. But there’s no penalty.

ST:       Even really bad stuff?

Erik:     Really bad is on Earth. It’s real, man, but it’s Earth.

ST:       How’s it done?

Erik:     Like, you gotta forgive yourself, which sounds easy but it isn’t sometimes. The guilt and the bad feelings get buried for a while, like you learn to pretend to yourself, ‘cause it hurts to think about it.

ST:       Is that also the case after somebody passes on?

Erik:     It can be; depends if the people affected have all come back or if some are still on Earth.

ST:       Is the bad stuff usually planned?

Erik:     Yup, like ending someone’s life or an attack, that’s a plan sometimes.

ST:       So when crime rates are analyzed and we see higher and lower in different places, what does that mean for karma?

C:         The creation of these amounts by territory or nation or other types of divisions is an Earth concept; the agreements to divide portions of the surface by the ideas and characteristics of the people is not a mandate from elsewhere. The accumulation of statistics by these divisions can provide insights, with certainty, yet we prefer to see and you will all remember again, how you see the Earth, as interconnected and a larger community of like beings. In this way it could be divided into the violent crimes that result from the Earth influences and those of a life plan. Often the latter are designed to fit with the former and will appear to be Earth sourced and Earth created.

Erik:     This won’t be a popular idea, people incarnate to get killed or murdered or anything else bad, but sometimes, it happens.

ST:       So why is there no punishment or penalty?

Erik:     There’s nothing to be done on Earth to really address the sources and like, how do you punish it? That idea of a softer word, it’s the Department of Corrections. Not much gets corrected in a jail.

ST:       What about less bad stuff, where people don’t get hurt permanently but still, it’s bad; stealing somebody’s savings or destroying a valuable possession?

Erik:     The Guides will usually give the person a prompt, if they’re gonna listen. Examples are all over, somebody goes back to fix what they did.

ST:       Does the bad thing get addressed after transitioning back, during life review?

Erik:     Oh yeah, that meeting doesn’t get skipped, you call the meeting. You don’t try to run out on it. Even if you’re reluctant.

ST:       What do you mean about reluctant?

Erik:     You love your family and friends; if they are upset with something you did, you’re not in a hurry to face that, that’s why you’re on Earth. Bad shit ain’t in Heaven so good skills at dealing with it get learned on Earth. Doesn’t make it pleasant so you might want to ease yourself into it. Doesn’t always work out. If there’s a funeral, you’re going to see it.

ST:       Can’t you skip it?

Erik:     No; if you need to see it, you’ll see it. No time here, all the stuff that needs to be rewound and replayed, the tapes are permanently available.

ST:       On demand TV movies?

Erik:     Yup, and free of charge.

ST:       So we don’t carry karma from life to life, like a penance hanging over us with suffering and fire and brimstone just waiting?

Erik:     No.

ST:       Committee, any input you can spread on top of this karmic cake?

C:         There is no authority of power or enforcement of rules; we love you all and would never suggest it. It is a human construct that punishment be meted out to a transgressor; your pain is what you feel as you might review. You who have been approached by a repentant person who seeks to address a wrong, we ask that you do the greatest thing for them and yourself that you can find, to accept them and receive the intent of their amends, however great or however small. Reject never s/he who offers regret, apology or amends. This the greatest of gifts there is to give, it is a true and deep expression of love that will lift you and all around you to heights of happiness you do not imagine. For you others who cannot understand why a terrible thing has happened by the hand of another, from careless or negligent to intentional and determined, we ask that you might pray for them and forgive them. For in this you release yourself and you detach the pain and sorrow that you might otherwise feel. The power of this emotion you cannot see on Earth; the beacon of power you project illuminates all of the Heavens. With good grace and good will, s/he that might have betrayed and hurt you, even in the worst and most horrible of ways, might then come back to learn of the way to, in turn, forgive others and spread this the deepest of all love through the universe. For there is not hate or dislike and seek it never; look always for the good in others, that they will see it in you, and the good blessings will be for all.

ST:       Oh my gosh, that was nice.

Erik:     Yeah, it was. (Erik wipes a tear from his right eye).

ST:       Excuse my lumpy throat, and we’ll click off now.

C:         To all, be well!
