Me: Okay, how much of the personality and self-identity is influenced by the physiology and chemistry of our brain? Are thoughts, decisions and movements and acts of free will controlled by the microscopic activity in our brains, determined by genetics, dyes, drugs and other things? In other words, how much of the personality is brain and how much is soul?
Erik: That’s really being asked?
Me: Yeah.
Erik: Because all you have to do is slow down enough to know. The soul is pretty much the energetic computer motherboard and it’s using the brain as a computer. Emotions drive us; emotions create our reactions; thoughts create the way we react to a situation, which can build character. You know, people want to get down to the source of what is soul and what is brain?
Me: Um hm.
Erik: Well, soul is the electricity and brain is the computer.
Me: Oh, I like that analogy. Okay, one more. Gifted mediums like Jamie, what’s different about her? Is it something physical? Is it something like a spiritual contract? Do some of them have a history in past lives of having the same gift?
Erik: It’s definitely a contract. They agree to come in and do this kind of work. Since you’re pointing Jamie out, she’s had this ability in other lives too.
Jamie (to Erik): You see, I knew that, too! And I’ve found out in past life regressions that I’ve had a similar pattern. For me, it ran through my family, so it was partly hereditary.
Me: Oh, wow!
Jamie: And I would always have parents that would accept my gifts and enhance them instead of being this “drop-in.”
Erik: It’s like if you dropped into a family and you’re totally psychic and gifted and nobody believes you—thinks you’re just fucked up in the head lot of those people end up on the top floor.
Me: Huh?
Erik: Psychiatric ward.
Me: Oh! So, genetically speaking, Jamie, you and your ancestors probably influenced the genetics, but it’s mostly about, “Hey, you guys, I want you to be my parents for awhile, because I have this gift that you have to nurture. Is it that sort of thing?
Erik: Exactly.
