I think it’s funny that this post is about impostors, because I just saw that Cap’n Crunch is one, too. Apparently they decided, from the gold stripes on his sleeves, that he is actually a Commander, not a Captain. He’s been pulling the wool over our eyes all along and has been summarily demoted for his egregious dishonesty.

Me: How can you tell if a spirit is genuine or if it’s just pretending to be someone else. This blog member is asking, because he or she was told there was a spirit pretending to be Michael Jackson fooling many people to believe that it’s him and he’s draining their energy. Not sure how true this is, but the reader wants to know what you think about this, Erik. He or she said she’s heard the spirit is very dangerous and lures women in. So, how, in general, can you tell if the spirit is genuine or an impostor? I say ask Michael’s Impostor to dance and sing and see how they do.
Jamie (giggling): You might want to edit this.
Me: No.
Jamie: Ooooh. He says, “Michael Jackson drawing in women—right there you know if it’s not the right spirit.”
I chuckle.
Erik: I’m joking; I’m joking. Okay people?
Me: It’s going in.
Jamie: Oh god.
Me: I’ll tell everyone it’s your idea, Jamie.
Jamie giggles.
Erik: I don’t care who has a preference of whatever, but anyway, let’s just take it in general: How do you know if a spirit is being authentic with you or if he’s playing with you. Gotta go back to that, if you’re questioning it, then something is off.
Me: Hm.
Erik: So, make a better intent when you’re connecting with a spirit that you want to be spoken to with honesty. You won’t accept lower vibrational beings, and you won’t accept impostors. And you know, these prayers, these intents that people say really create a vibrational structure around them. That’s like going back to the power of words. It’s the intent that you put behind the words. So, if you’re saying, “Hey, I want to speak to Michael Jackson and only Michael Jackson, no impostors. I want to be spoke to with honesty and integrity.” But I want you to know, just because you’re calling on someone doesn’t mean that they have to show up.
Me: Mm hm.
Erik: But if they’re not showing up for you, you have every right to ask why or when is a better time or how can you adjust your space to make it easier for him. It’s like setting an intent and asking your friend to come over to your house—your human friend—and then telling them the door is open, then when they get there, they can’t get in because you accidentally forgot to unlock the door. So, when your friend gets there and finds the door is locked and goes, “Hey, the door is locked,” and you say, “Come on in. The door is open!”—There’s something wrong. There’s miscommunication. You know, we’re humans. We’re going to make mistakes and forget things every now and then. That’s part of the beauty of being human. So, be meticulous. You don’t have to spin in circles, light candles and burn whatever, but, if it works for you, then do it!
Me: Mm hm.
Jamie (to Erik): You’re talking about rituals, right?
Erik: Right. Rituals that are religious based or even just personally created. Maybe there’s something you enjoy, like you enjoy the smell of lavender. It helps put you in a meditative state. Well, you know what? Use it. That will be part of your ritual. But it doesn’t mean that you can’t communicate to spirit without lavender. Don’t put the power in tools in the rituals. Put the power where it belongs which is in yourself. And when I’m saying the word “power”, I mean energy. Don’t give all of your energy into the lavender. The lavender helps you do this; don’t think sand from a Far East beach will call in the spirits. That’s bullshit. The power in your belief system is what helps you do it. Guess what, buddy? You’re doing it yourself.
Me: Exactly. Okay.

Dear Reader,
The journey on which you’re about to embark will take you through stories that are deeply personal and involves a relationship between a mother and her son.
As a physician raised by two atheists, I had no personal belief system about life after death. In a word, I was a confirmed skeptic. As my journey progressed, my mind opened. It is my sincerest hope that yours will open as well and that you will have a greater understanding of your own life and what’s to come ahead.
Although Erik sometimes paints a rosy picture of the afterlife, time and time again he stresses that suicide is not the answer to one’s problems. If you struggle, please understand that the information in my blog and my book is no substitute for professional help. Please click here for a list of resources for help when you find yourself considering taking your own life. Know that they are readily available when you feel that hopelessness and despair that many of us feel from time to time in our lives.
I refuse all donations and ad revenue on the blog. It is my dream to one day establish a nonprofit organization that delivers a variety of spiritual services for those who have lost loved ones to suicide and cannot afford that assistance on their own. It’s a mission of love, sacrifice, and dedication.
Love and light,
