Terence McKenna

Having never heard of him until “sherrilltradedooverexperience” suggested it in a comment, I turn to Wikipedia for location; it tells us that Terence Kemp McKenna (1946 – 2000) was an American ethnobotanist, philosopher, psychonaut, researcher, teacher, lecturer and writer on many subjects, such as human consciousness, language, psychedelic substances, the evolution of civilizations, the origin and end of the universe, alchemy, and extraterrestrial beings.

ST = substitute teacher TM = Terence McKenna C= The Committee and Erik

ST:     You know the drill, Erik, you go hunt. My new nickname for you is bloodhound, but can The Committee bark as well as you?

Erik:    Woof! Woof!

ST:     (I take that as “yes”) OK, off you go….Esteemed Committee, if there is no time, no past and future but there only is, then this interview can’t have already happened without a past and cannot happen because there’s no future so does it happen at all as we wait for it to happen, which means there IS a future, which means there IS a past, right?

C:       So we smile at this question and say Mr. McKenna shall this address.

ST:    Yo…Erik…..side trip to the cigar shop?

Erik:  Liquor store.

ST:    There’s no food or consumption in Heaven like on Earth.

Erik:  Good cigars in there…

ST:    Right; OK is that Mr. McKenna I think I sense?

Erik:  (Leaning back and lighting his cigar with a flame shooting off his right index finger) yeah it is; you like my ecologically friendly method? No butane, no wood, no sulfur….just love.

ST:    Love of rolled tobacco leaves.

Erik:  Love is love, ya takes what ya gets. (Takes a long drag and blows out 6 smoke rings)

ST:    Mr. McKenna, you can read the question above, is that crazy, logical or what?

TM:  Terry you may call me, it happened often enough, I like it. To this I say you are asking quite a question, and you place the Earth timeline upon an existence where events are not ordered sequentially. This does not mean they occur simultaneously always, yet this occurs also. I would describe what you see on Earth as a sequence, this I call growth.

ST:    Like a tree?

TM:  Certainly; if you mark the bark of a tree and return many years later, the taller and thicker tree will still show the marking at the same height; so goes your soul’s growth. It expands yet remains where it always is.

ST:   We don’t remain in place, though.

TM:  Certainly not yet your growth is always you and never leaves.

ST:   These subjects the encyclopedia lists for you, some are recognized and some others, while known…… (OK Erik, I know you know I like that British spelling, so we’ll spell it “whilst” – good doggie!)

Erik:  (Suddenly wags a tail I never saw before, and puffs on his stogie) Woof!

ST:  (Elisa has never told us he came from the comedy dog pound, now I have my suspicions)….whilst known, could be deemed controversial. Like, what’s a psychonaut, a traveler to psychosis?

TM:   (smiling) It means psychosis and also psychology.

ST:    What do you think of psychedelic substances?

TM:   They provide a glimpse into the mind beyond the brain.

ST:    Heaven?

TM:   This is a good description.

ST:   We all want to know about the world today and what’s going to happen, that’s almost universal. Even the hardest skeptics are attracted to knowledge of the future; can you tell us something?

Erik:   (Darth Vader voice) You will meet a tall, dark man with a light saber, cape and helmet…

TM:   In general terms, there is great change in the world, new energy in the air and a new feeling for many of you. My writings and teachings on the subjects I pursued are things now coming forward together, in ways not common and not in the coordination that occurs now. The things I wrote about were, as often as not, understood as separate and relatively unrelated. I saw each of them in this way somewhat as I embarked on the study of these parts, these pieces, these components of our existence. I discovered quickly that all is inter-related and inter-connected and in Earth words, really intra-connected. Infrastructure of humanity is the title I’d give to the body of work I produced.

ST:  Tell us something useful about extraterrestrial beings; this is probably the most controversial subject.

TM:   There is interest and fascination with Earth existence and the human race. I say “x” and “y”, because Earth doesn’t exist for the human race, and you are not upon it, nor was I, as the reason for it to exist. This is common, this way of thought, that Earth is for us. For us humans principally. It is no more for us than anything else upon it. The fascination of Earth is the course she has taken, the development chosen and re-chosen as each great phase of development rises and fades. Thousands of alternative courses are possible and indications of where each shall go are often and regular as these paths are pursued. Earth development is the bulldozer that makes the road it then follows. Beings of many civilizations having passed through development Earth now lives observe with deep and personal interest the comings and goings of Earth and compare them with their own, at equivalent stages. The anticipations and reactions are of unending benefit and instruction.

ST:     Is there a reason to fear physical beings?

TM:    No.

ST:     Please expand on the time subject.

TM:   The larger the tree, the greater its reach and more easily it is, in turn, reached by others. All parts of the tree are interconnected and remain this way.

ST:     I am reminded of the Borg civilization, if that would be a good description, perhaps not, on Star Trek. They slowly and steadily incorporate living beings into their collective, and even physically attach tubes, hoses and other devices to them, erasing the individual. Is this similar in any way, does this represent what happens?

TM:  No, quite the opposite and a good example for contrast this is. The recognition of the interconnectedness of all souls in the universe emphasizes the uniqueness and differences, and makes them ever more distinct and special. The idea of separation to maintain differences is a physical matter perception caused by communication broken down into the senses a body utilizes. Togetherness in an interconnected way, not common yet still possible on Earth, does not homogenize societies.

ST:     How does Earth time fit?

TM:   Earth time is simple to simplistic; challenge there is to reconfigure yourself away from it as you utilize a body; once the body is discarded and you return home, the understanding of the cycles that create a perception of time is not complicated. There is memory but no past. There is a future, but the timeline of Earth requires the future to be a step along a path where previous steps must be named. In your home here, the future is growth and it expands in all directions from your soul. All that you are is always all that you have grown into and is always with you. It can be re-lived and re-experienced, in this way we mean to say there is no past.

ST:      “We” mean to say? Not you?

TM:     Your Committee and your good young friend here, Erik, they speak with me.

ST:       Is that common?

TM:    Yes, nearly universal; your Guardian Guides, Angels, Companions and Protectors are with you always. This is not unique to your soul as you have gone to be on Earth, and these who watch you and accompany you do not simply leave you and move on. You knew them all and will always know them and when we come together in Heaven, it is the same without the two way mirror of Earth life.

ST:     Is fascination with the sky really our soul looking beyond our life, trying to see what is beyond the beautiful blue above and around us?
TM:     Yes.

ST:      You mentioned a memory can be re-lived?

TM:     Yes, with one principal difference. The emotion, joy and fear, the pleasure, pain and relief of the experience is not the same when the experience can be seen from all sides. The perception of Earth disallows the outcome before the result has come forth, this is the difference between participation and observation that Earth life provides, a thing so unique and valuable the line to have it never ends.

ST:     There is no shortfall of souls that wish to be on Earth?

TM:    No, and there never will be.

ST:      I have understood the majority of souls that might come here do not; is this accurate?

TM:   Yes, many pursue development in other ways. Earth is a challenging environment; the differences in personality, tolerances, ideas and preferences are vastly more varied at home than on Earth and these qualities make Earth less attractive or more attractive to the many souls around her.

ST:     Is the toughness of an Earth life considered special by souls in Heaven?

TM:  Yes, but no better or lesser. The uniqueness is of value to the soul that chooses it; your sensation of self satisfaction and well being resembles this effect as felt upon return. Admiration is the overriding emotion of all who observe a returnee or veteran of many Earth deployments, to use your organizational terms.

ST:    Closing questions, Erik?

Erik:  I’d ask him who cut his hair, but you’d think that’s not important.

ST:    Mr. McKenna, who cut your hair?

TM:  The hair stylist, of course.

ST:    Mr. McKenna, thank you.

TM:   My pleasure, go eat breakfast.
