Why Evil Exists in the World – Part 2
What is “Evil?
Last month we discussed that human animals are violent (“evil”) and tend to blame the consequences of their violence on someone else, even God/Source. We Light Being souls inside the humans, however, are unconditionally loving, rather than violent, and take responsibility for our own actions.
Evil is not a force in the world. Nor is it the influence of a fictional Satan, as I learned in the afterlife. Evil is a human construct. Declaring something “evil” is a judgment call. It means the person labeling the thing “evil” has determined emotionally or intellectually that the thing is morally bad. Determining what is morally corrupt can be done only within the confines of a specific person’s point of view. His or her religious or spiritual beliefs. His or her life values accumulated through experience and indoctrination.
Holding the perspective that something is evil is a uniquely human experience. The only reason humans judge their own behaviors to be evil is because being judgmental is an innate human animal trait. Other animals do not share that trait of condemning their own instinct-driven behavior.
Human animals are extremely judgmental, oftentimes inconsistently so. Many readers have complained to me about Source allowing Hitler to kill an entire race of humans. Many condemn killing innocent children, abortion, rape and abuse of all descriptions. Yet humans lobby for legislation that allows state governments to put the perpetrators of certain crimes to death. Some find it permissible to torture military prisoners in the interest of national security. Humans also congratulate themselves on their patriotism when they send young soldiers off to war to kill and be killed. Frequently humans see no contradiction between these two sets of values. Humans collectively hold different perspectives on violence and abuse committed in different contexts. The concept of “evil” is a floating one, riding the tides of human rationalizations and fears.
When we are in our pure spiritual form in the afterlife we are no longer judgmental. We do not label actions or events as good or bad. We are able to objectively recognize that humans are inherently violent and accept human suffering as a fact of animal life. It is much the same as when humans observe wild animals and refrain from judging their behavior as bad or evil, acknowledging that violence is the law of the jungle.
In sum, evil exists in the world only because humans have indiscriminately labeled some of their own behaviors with that word. When humans change their perspective on a behavior, it ceases to be evil. We have seen that happen throughout the course of history, including the rise and fall of prohibition, the proliferation of gambling casinos, the use of profanity on television, and nudity in movies. Evil is truly in the eye of the beholder.
