Channeling River Phoenix, Part One

First, Erik and I would like to thank you all for the outpouring of birthday well wishes. Personally, I think that when we all cross over, we owe him a bunch of birthday spankings, and “one to grow on”!

Many of the posts that follow will be focused on insight from various celebrities, but I will include other information as well. We’ll start with River Phoenix.

Channeling Transcript

Me: Let’s see, I guess I’d like to start with our celebrity interview book now. Of course I don’t want to be exploitive or voyeuristic. Um, I want the questions to give them a voice so we can learn from them and raise our own spiritual awareness.

Erik: I know you have a list.

Me: Yeah. I want to ask if their beliefs in an afterlife changed after they crossed, what regrets they have, what they were here to teach and learn, what messages they have for humanity, whether it was their destiny to die when and how they did and if so, why. Let’s see what else is on the list. Oh, I’d like them to share a past life they think most influenced their last life, I’d like them to share what their death was like, what insight they’ve gained from their new perspective in the afterlife, what their surroundings are like now, what they do with their “time” in Heaven, what their proudest accomplishments were, and some others. I’ll probably add more Uh, I want you to ask questions, too, Erik.

Erik: Okay. But my main role is to gather ‘em up and help them communicate. Some of them might have trouble with that.

Me: So, Erik, is there anybody you want to bring forward—

Erik: You mean the celebrities we’re gonna interview?

Me: Yeah. Duh.

Erik: How many are we gonna talk to?

Me: Gosh, I have over 75 on my list right now, but that’s just the modern day celebrities. We’re also going to create a book of all the infamous characters like Hitler, Genghis Khan, Jessie James, and others, a book with religious figures like Jesus, Moses, Mother Teresa. Let’s see, I have a list of political and historic figures, a list of composers, poets, artists, and writers, and even one of well-known animal personalities, so yeah, this may take a lifetime. Maybe we can even channel those mythical creatures we now know exist like Bigfoot! But right now, we’re just starting with the pop culture icons like Kurt Cobain, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, James Dean, Elvis Presley, Tupac Shakur, Jimi Hendix. God, there are so many who have given us so much but left so young.

Erik: We can start with whoever you want, Mom. Um—

Me: Okay, let’s start with Kurt Cobain, then. I probably only have time to interview a couple today.

Erik: Okay, We’re gonna do dudes today.

Me: Okay!

(Long pause as Erik “fetches” our first victim)

Jamie chuckles as River Phoenix comes back with Erik.

Erik: Here you go. River was the easiest for me to get a hold of. I also put out feelers for Kurt Cobain to show up.

Me: Okay, great! Putting feelers out. That’s hilarious.

Erik: Apparently he’s still a bit of a mess. A mess not like drugs and stuff, but he’s into everybody else’s creative life.

Me: Oh, really? Kurt Cobain?

Erik: Yeah.

Me: Oh boy.

Erik: Really into the music scene, really trying to influence the change of music, working with bands in Vancouver, Seattle, kinda still with that underground scene.

Jamie: So, River Phoenix is here and looking thin!

Me: Hey River! We’re hear to give you a voice.

River: That’s actually very nice. Thank you.

Me: Aw. Now, we’re not here to exploit you. We just want to give you an opportunity to share where that might not have been possible for you before. We have a list of questions. Would you like us to go by that or just give you the floor?

River: You did your best to put everything in an order.

Jamie (laughing): He’ll be saying something, and then his eyes kind of dart off to the left. Then he repeats the same words like he’s thinking about the next thing to say. He looks very thoughtful, very much “into it.”

River: I want you to know that Erik is a very outgoing young man, and he’s filled me in on what you’re doing. I think you’ll find that we’ll be hesitant at first, and then once the first few people go by, especially if you announce who you’re working with, we’ll feel more prepared. An actor always needs to be prepared!

Jamie and I laugh.

River: But I don’t mind being interviewed on the spot.

Me: Yeah, it’s improv! So, would you like to start by describing how death was for you?

River: You mean my spiraling death?

Me: Yeah.

River: I look back, and I don’t see my death being one moment in time. I really look back and see where I died in portions, before I, you know, hit the sidewalk. Literally. And, um, a lot of it that hurt me is, I found that a lot of people thought more of me than I thought of myself.

Me (with sympathy): Aww.

River: I was aware that other tragedies had happened like this with other actors and movie stars. It’s not like we’re dumb and we don’t know that, and people think we are. “Oh, here’s another one, doing the same thing!” But trust me, you are pampered and lined up to go right through those emotions to the firing squad. And if you don’t have a family to hold your hand, if you decide to alienate them, which I did for a little while, um, that’s when I really kinda lost myself.

Me: What do you mean by “pampered and lined up?”

River: When you become a star, when they put you in the limelight, and they expect you to do these parties and show up and sign autographs and be there for people, you find that when you get there, things that are always a bit out of touch, out of reach, illegal, are the gifts that people are giving you. They want to get close to you; they want to be your friend. At first it’s kind of like, “Oh wow!” You’ve never seen this before, and you wanna have fun with it. And then, people take that as “Well, to get close to you, I’m going to bring you some cocaine, or whatever.” So it turns into something that’s as easy as going to a restaurant and having dinner. You’re going out and being social.

Me: That must have been a tough discrepancy for you. People want you, but only to pamper themselves instead of truly caring about you. That must have been difficult, because you probably knew, deep inside, that many of these people didn’t care about you, they cared about knowing you.

River: They cared about being next to me; they cared about the photographs; they cared about the words. I find it so ironic, because when I was younger, I used to play guitar. I still play guitar. I like to write poetry, I like to write songs, I like to sing and play music. And I would go out into the streets with my brother, and we’d sit down on the street corner and sing songs to make money for my family. But when I became famous, I totally took everything for granted. That was my one focused goal. We needed the money—the family needed the money, you know, it wasn’t just for myself—but as soon as we started getting recognized, and we had it, then that was the goal. I was never in a position to sit down and think, ‘What would I do if I had that success or that money?’

Me: Yeah.

River: That’s what I mean. You’re primed and greased for failure when they make you a star. They want to see you take off, and they want to see you crash and burn. That’s the story. Once I started making it big as a kid, I should immediately have had a therapist or a life coach. I immediately should have been assigned a teacher for my education, and these people should have been teaching me, “Okay, when you get a name, what are you going to do?” It’s a bit like royalty. You know, you don’t “boom” get born into being a king. You’re a prince, and you’re taught manners, posture, how to handle the public, what is your education, what are your thoughts, what are you going to do with the money. This was all robbed. I was robbed. But I’m sure you’re not calling me to hear all this.

Me: No, I am! This is your time. So, when you transitioned, was it painless? Tell us a little bit about that and then tell us if and how your beliefs in the afterlife changed after you died.

Wait for Part Two tomorrow!

Now for a big favor. Blog member, Christine, suggested our story would be perfect for Anderson Cooper’s new show. He actually lost an older brother to suicide. So if you would please click on the link below and then the phrase on the left, in red, reading “Pass it on” and share what you think is important, Erik and I would be grateful, especially any Erik pranks or visits or ways he has changed your life. What an opportunity to help on a larger scale!
